I have been asked what the best way to connect the gutter to your rainwater tank is.
My response included good design will always include: 1) A rainwater head 2) A Leaf Diverter 3) A First Flush System 4) A fine mesh inlet strainer. To help our Owner Builder students identify these components, pleas see the images below

Are any of the examples shown suitable to use in a BAL FZ build? I know they have to be metal & the roof will collect a lot of leaves.

Enhance your vessel’s water quality with a marine water purification system, ensuring safe and great-tasting water.

Thanks. This is very informative. I have come across the leaf diverter until now.

Another useful clean rainwater harvesting measure is gutter guard. The type that permanently attaches to the roof and to the top roll of the gutter can be extremely effective when coupled with good housekeeping e.g regularly using a leaf blower to remove built up leaf matter.
